Surprisingly Okay

I finished a small practice spin on my supported spindle a while ago but I hadn’t gotten around to taking it off and washing it yet until now.

It’s surprisingly even for a still early attempt at supported spinning. It’s a bit over spun but overall I’m very happy with it, I think that I am really going to enjoy supported spinning (I already do) and do a lot of it once I get the hang of it.

  1. It’s lovely! Who needs a flawless spin? I have yet to try a supported spindle but do find spinning on drop spindles delightful …… except ….. I’m too lazy to ply on them and use my spinning wheel to get it over with faster. Maybe someday I will have enough gumption to try a supported spindle.

    • Thanks! And good point, if I wanted perfect yarn I would just buy it instead of making it myself.
As for supported spindles I haven’t been spinning on mine for long but I already really enjoy it, if you like drop spindling you would probably enjoy supported too. And it’s really not much (if at all) harder than drop spindling, just a bit different is all.
I know what you mean about the plying, it’s my least favourite part of spinning (followed closely by counting the wraps on a niddy-noddy), right now I have a beautiful project just sitting in a drawer because I can’t bring myself to finish plying it (I only have a homemade spinning wheel which I haven’t gotten the hang of yet so I have to ply on my least favourite drop spindle since it is the only one big enough to handle it).
