Finished Object Friday: Wind and Waves

Wow! I can’t believe that it’s actually done! I’m super happy with this project, I think it turned out great!

It has been very hard these past few days waiting to wear this but I’m finally putting it into use today. Tonight Bilbo and I are going to the theatre to watch a musical/comedy show and I wanted something special to wear, preferably this sweater. So I was working hard to finish it before today and when I managed it I decided to save the first wear the sweater for today, because what’s more special than a brand new handknit sweater?

That being said, I don’t have any pictures of me in the sweater yet but hopefully I will be able to get some tonight so I can show you all how it fits (which is really well).

As for the knitting, I did make a few modifications to the pattern to make the sleeves turn out the way I wanted them to, I made the decreases in the arms more often and ended the 4:1 rib a few inches early but I also made the garter rib much longer than the pattern called for for no thumbholes. I did this partly because I have long arms and needed extra length there but also because I liked the look of the length of the garter rib section in the pattern and I wanted the same illusion of length in my sweater.

I do have a ball and a half of yarn left over, but I have no idea what I am going to do with it.
