Today I thought to myself, what better a day to start a new blog than this one? And what better way to start a knitting and spinning blog than with a new project?
Today I started a Girasol Shawl, by Jared Flood (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/girasole) with some lovely Madelinetosh Merino Light in Candlewick that was given to me as a gift this Christmas.
I decided that instead of making a circular shawl that I would modify it to be a semi-circle as I will likely wear it that way anyway and I can give it a bigger radius that way as well. It seems to be working out rather well so far but I have only completed the first two charts so far, fingers crossed that the stitch counts will continue to work out.
So far I am loving knitting with the Madelinetosh Merino Light, it is beautifully soft and surprisingly not splitty for a single spun yarn, and I absolutely love the colour of it so that helps too. Remarkably, the straight needles that I am working with are not driving me insane as I thought they would but I can’t wait to get back to my interchangable needle set and switch over to my regular circulars. I’m kinda kicking myself for not bringing them with me but I think I will be able to make do for now.
Again, Merry Christmas! I hope you all have a wonderful night and a great rest of the year!
